What are some careers for a geology major?
I’ve loved earth science for the longest time, and am currently working on getting my BS in geology. However, I’ve been told that most geologists end up getting a career with oil industries. While this normally wouldn’t be a problem, I just wanted to make sure that I have other job opportunities I could check out. I want to go on and get my Masters to keep my options open, but could someone please tell me what other careers there are out there?

Teaching at the masters level you can teach undergraduate level, museums use geologist, archeologist use geologist consultants also. Hope this helps
Hey i am also learning in B.Sc geology…there are many oppourtunity in geology…if you had completed B.Sc so you have to go for GIS (Geological Information System),if you’d learnt geophysics so there is no problem because there are many vacncies in GSI (Geological Survay of India),you can also do your career in gemology,you can also make your career in marin geology which also a nice one,palentology is also better option,if you are intrested in research you can also apply for junior scientist….there are much more branches of geology for make career if youdo your M.Sc….I am telling you that because I also want make my career in geology…..My best wishes are always with you….which one you choose tell me …..
I suggest you go to a job website, like monster.com, or the jobs section of something like craigslist.org and do a search for geology. that can give you an idea of what is out there and what may sound interesting to you in reading job descriptions.
